Discover Flinders Island

Sustainable Farming Amidst Natural Beauty

Experience the harmony of nature and agriculture at Flinders Island Harvest, where our commitment to sustainable permaculture farming meets the breathtaking landscapes of Tasmania.

At Flinders Island Harvest, we cultivate high-quality, nutritious produce while nurturing the land we love. We are dedicated to sustainable permaculture practices that enhance soil health, promote biodiversity, and conserve water resources. Our values are rooted in environmental stewardship, community support, and the pursuit of local food security. We strive to strengthen the local economy by providing fresh, nutritious, local produce to the Flinders Island community and beyond.

Most fresh food on Flinders is currently shippedor flown in week to week; our goal is to change that—one bed of veggies, one hive of bees, and one batch of preserves at a time. When you buy from Flinders Island Harvest, you’re supporting an island community, low-food-miles produce and a family that loves this place as much as you do.

What We Do

Local Produce

We are grow for flavour, not in a hurry. Beds are planted around the seasons with careful crop rotation to rebuild the soil, not exhaust it. Diverse, multi-storey polycultures work to feed the soil, support pollinators and confuse pests.

The result is resilient plants, healthier soil year after year, and great tasting, local produce.

Award-winning Honey

Our honey is small-batch, raw and ethically produced from Flow Hives registered on our farm. We harvest gently with minimal disturbance, and our hives stay in place year-round – never trucked or rented for pollination – so the bees work a calm, familiar landscape. The result is a pure, unblended honey that reflects the coastal bush and flavours of our farm.

Community Initiatives

We’re slowly building a more circular, resilient West End. Our community green-waste bin turns directs organic waste out of landfill, and provides compost for the farm. Our budding insect farms transform cardboard and kitchen waste into high-quality animal feed. We share what we’re learning to spread the permaculture movement and we’ve been known to rescue the odd animal here and there too.
